in reading my story about selling online. At the time of this publication,
it will be 15 years since I started selling and what a journey it has
been! I first came across this funny thing called the Internet back in
1995 and have had a huge interest in it ever since.
There's no way
I could have ever imagined that I would have dropped my career in
healthcare administration for running an online business. But that is
exactly what has happened.
Quite frankly, I think everyone should
have an Internet business. What other business venture in the world can
you be making money while you sleep? If you are already self employed, let
me encourage you to find a way to make money online also. There's so much
opportunity with selling online. Just look at some of the most recent
information about online sales.

Forrester Research just put out a new
five-year forecast recently predicting that e-commerce sales
in the U.S. will keep growing at a 10 percent compound annual growth
rate through 2014. It forecasts online retail sales in the
U.S. will be nearly $250 billion, up from $155 billion in 2009. Last
year, online retail sales were up 11 percent, compared to 2.5
percent for all retail sales.

Some other stats from the U.S.
forecast:
- e-commerce sales will represent 8 percent of all retail sales in the
U.S. by 2014, up from 6 percent in 2009
- In 2009, 154 million people in the U.S. bought something online, or
67 percent of the online population (4 percent more than in 2008)
- Three product categories (computers, apparel, and consumer
electronics) represented more than 44 percent of online sales($67.6
billion) in 2009

So while it may seem more and more challenging,
Internet sales continue to explode.
